  Question regarding JW and military service.

  does anyone know when the wts started to refused baptism for those who were enlisted as active duty in the armed forces (military)?.

  any reference material would be appreciated.. from what i remember hearing, back in the olden days (pre-50's or 60's) anyone wishing to be baptized only had to show up at a convention or assembly to get dunked.

  Fatfreek: Those are the exact two Bible accounts that these elders are referencing to support the fact that active duty military can be baptized. However, at the same token, these elders don't think that those who are already baptized should enlist into the military. The difference being that an active duty soldier can request a conscientious objector status or just refuse to fight until his contract/term is up.

  Alwayshere: RandCam is interesting. How can this be brought up without throwing up questionable apostate flags?

  Does anyone know WHEN the WTS started to refused baptism for those who were enlisted as active duty in the armed forces (military)?

  Any reference material would be appreciated.

  From what I remember hearing, back in the olden days (pre-50's or 60's) anyone wishing to be baptized only had to show up at a convention or assembly to get dunked. No questions. No monitoring. Also, weren't some Bible Students enlisted in the military when CT Russell was president. I recall that these Bible Student soldiers weren't encouraged to kill with their weapons, but rather to fire them in the air in order to not become blood guilty. So there must be something in print between the 1920's and 1950's.

  Your response would be kindly appreciated as there is a serious discussion among elders in the country of ****** regarding the neutrality issue.

  How Much of an Impact is Being Made by Young JW' s Leaving the Cult ?

  we have read threads where statistics show that 2 out of every 3 people raised as jehovah's witnesses eventually leave once they get in their 20's to 30's and out on their own.

  my children and my nieces and nephews are between the ages of 21 to 35 .

  out of those 8 people - 4 of them have completely stopped attending meetings .

  Out of us 4 kids, only one got baptized (me). And I'm fading now. Haven't gone to a meeting in over three months.

  i find it hard to be content...even though i have a nice apartment, good job, good health, family and friends.

  i'm of course grateful for these things but i feel that somehow i always long for something else.

  when i'm single i want to be with someone...when i'm with someone i want to be free.

  Creation - struggling

  i am in the process of leaving, and those of you who have followed me will know i spoke to my family briefly the other day about my doubts, but not since.

  my dad has offered the occasional prayer for various things in the past week, as well as say he wants to study with my preschoolers.

  he has also added in the extra tidbits to do with jehovah being the only true god etc.

  The question you have is sort of like what I always had growing up.

  "Did Jehovah God create time?"

  If Jehovah God had always existed and time itself never has a beginning nor an end, does that mean Jehovah God IS time?

  Never got a straight logical answer for that one.

  This Fading Stuff is Tough!!

  overall my fade is going very well, but yesterday it really hit me that certain "milestones" are going to be more difficult than others.. i have basically gotten down to one meeting a week, wth no field service.. this despite the dreaded admonition "one week without field service makes one weak!

  " (puke).

  as i was on the way to the meeting yesterday, i was informed that i was assigned to read the wt.
